CrescentCare Legal Services is a specialized legal aid program providing free civil legal assistance to people living with HIV throughout Louisiana. Operating as part of a Federally Qualified Health Center, it stands out for its holistic approach, addressing the intersection of health and social determinants of health through advocacy, outreach, education, and litigation.
The program works to prevent negative health impacts by resolving legal issues related to discrimination, public benefits, privacy, and estate planning. With a team of seven dedicated attorneys and offices in New Orleans and Baton Rouge, it serves income-eligible individuals and their loved ones, focusing on areas where unmet legal needs could threaten clients’ housing, medical care, income, or family stability.
